Subit Biswal and Haladhar Das dazzled with the bat to fire Orissa to a seven-wicket win over Jharkhand in a league match of the East Zone Vijay Hazare Trophy Cricket Tournament at Jadavpur University ground in Kolkata today.
Biswal slammed a century while Haldhar remained unbeaten on 88. Biswal`s 112-ball knock was studded with 11 fours and one six. This was his maiden ton in List-A competition and bettered his previous highest score of 90 not out.
Chasing a target of 261, Orissa romped home with 5.3 overs to spare. This was Orissa`s second successive victory in the tournament. Haldhar faced 110 balls and hit 10 boundaries. Biswal and Das compiled 191 runs for the third wicket to seal the match in favour of Orissa.
Earlier electing to bat, Jharkhand rode on a half-century each by Saurav Tiwari and Shiv Prakash Goutam to post a respectable total of 260 for seven.
Orissa earlier defeated Tripura by seven wickets. They will take on Bengal in their next match on February 21.
